The rush of emotions after you said “yes” is probably overwhelming and exciting. I have some fun things to keep in mind during your engagement period.
Starting with your engagement ring. Some couples sit down together and discuss a budget before picking out the right ring. In some cases the groom will allow the bride to pick out her own engagement ring when the go to the jewelers together. This is to ensure she gets something she will want for a life time. However, if you are they type of couple who loves to give surprises than its safe to purchase the ring a head of time before the proposal. If you are the groom and you’re not quite sure what she may like then drop subtle hints to see what she may like, observe what type of jewelry she already has and wears often, keep your eye out to see if she pointed something out to you in a magazine, store, or complemented someone else’s ring or piece or jewelry. Keep in mind her style.
Consider engagement photos. This is a great opportunity to see what photographer you work well with. Pick more than one photographer to test out before you hire one for your wedding day. There may be one you work with better than the other. In addition you will be able to see the quality of your engagement photos, and you can make a better decision down the road on who you may want to hire for the day of the wedding. Engagement photos make great save the date cards and they will be fun to display on your wedding day.
Remember to keep the planning fun, this is a once in a life time moment with the one you love. The best thing to do is set your realistic budget and keep organized. Everything will flow from there. If you are stuck I can get you started.

There are so many styles of wedding dresses to choose from! Here are some quick tips to narrow the selection down. The first thing you need to do is set your budget and stay firm on how much you can spend. If you over spend on your dress you may have to cut costs on something else. Next, look for a dress that fits the style of your wedding and the time of year you’re planning your day. Examples, choose a thin flowing gown for a summer beach theme wedding. For a vintage wedding maybe choose some lace. Overall, you want to feel comfortable; make sure you will be able to breathe, dance and enjoy your big day.

As you know we cannot predict Mother Nature, but what we can do is predict where you are going to have your event and how to pre-plan for the unknown. Most Venues are able to accommodate back up plans just in case the weather is not on your side. If you plan to have an outdoor wedding in a season where the weather is very unpredictable you may want to consider renting a tent, or check to see if your venue has some kind of shelter to accommodate all of your guests and your vendors. Please keep in mind your vendors will have very expensive equipment at your event that cannot get wet. If it does rain try to make the best of it! Use the rain as a fun photo moment and have the bridal party take fun photos under colored umbrellas. If it’s the season to snow and ice, plan to keep some hand warmers and heaters on site to help guests stay warm.
